Outline my Objectives

Workout Schedules
  • Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday/Sunday - go to Snap Fitness for Cardio workout
  • Monday,Wednesday and Friday - do a workout at home such as Yoga, Pilates and stretches to increase flexibility.
  •  If I miss out a workout in the morning for some reason or the other, ask Vicky to take the kids to the park and finish workout in the evening or go out for a long walk as a family.
Food Habits
  • healthy breakfast
  • Avoid consuming many cups of tea and coffee.
  • No junk food as snacks
  • Less rice and more vegetables and fruits
  • Drastic reduction in the sugar intake
  • Increase protein intake
  • Start healthy snack with tea so that dinner intake is reduced.
  • Try to make each meal a combination of different food groups rather than a one item menu.

My First Hurdle

Doing my exercises in the evening is totally not feasible. It may appear to be convenient now but it'll not work out on a daily basis. The reasons being
  • I will be tried at the end of the day
  •  I need to make dinner as well as the next day's lunch. Adding exercise to the evening load will be too much
  • Cannot think of doing something together as a family, like go to the slides or go for a walk
  • Too much of pressure for Vicky as soon as he comes from office
  • Timings may not work out because Vicky comes back from work at 6:00 p.m. Going to the gym and then getting back to finish dinner will turn out to be too late for the kids to go to bed and will not give me any downtime to even watch tv after they sleep.
In all common sense going to the gym in the evening will not work out. The other option is to get up earl and go to the gym. In truth I hate this option because it means I have to get up early. But I don't think I have a choice.

If I am to get up and finish my exercises in the morning I have to get it over with before 7:30 a.m. I have to give enough time for Vicky to get ready for his office as well as have enough time to prepare breakfast and pack lunch. This means I have to be up by 5:30 a.m, at the gym by 6:00 and back home by 7:30 a.m at the latest.

Getting up at 5:30 a.m. seems to be my first hurdle because currently I am in the habit of goig to bed really late, sometimes 1 a.m but almost after midnight every night. If I am to get up early I need to get to bed at 10:30 p.m at the latest.

Set my Goals

It all appears so negative to me. I need to think positive. So I am going to take it 'one pound at a time'.

Current Weight: 135 lbs
Pre-Pregnancy Weight: 122 lbs
Time Frame: Ashank's first birthday (8 more months)
Goal per Month: 1.625 lbs per month

Troubling Factors

During my 1st pregnancy I had gained a total of 37 pounds. I seemed to have got back in shape without any effort at all. But even if I had gained only 22 lbs during my 2nd pregnancy, I feel so very out of shape. I seem to have put on weight in all the wrong places. I have started to hate myself.

The first time around I was all alone and I guess that is the reason I got back into shape pretty fast. But now my in-laws have come and they have been here for 4.5 months. My workload has reduced and most importantly the food intake has completely changed. It's mostly carbohydrates now. For the past couple of months I have been telling myself that things will change after they leave. There is 2 more weeks for them to leave but I find myself getting more and more conscious as each day passes and I have started hating myself. It's reaching a point where I am finding it difficult to look at myself in the mirror.

Today, I have repeated the same mantra to myself - '2 more weeks and things will change'. But time seems to have frozen. The same does not apply to the way I think about myself though.

Another thing that I am afraid of is that I will not have the will power to actually workout after they leave. I have used them being here as an excuse for so long that I am afraid that I have been using the excuse as the easy way out.

I have also realized that my weight is not my primary concern It's the fact that my flexibility and stamina are almost down to zero that worries me the most.
